Artist Statement
"Beneath the Surface"
"At first glance, my artwork is recognized by rich pigments, light hearted narratives and detailed illustrations. What many don’t realize is that hidden beneath the surface are many layers of paint, along with deep rooted emotions that chronicle my life in a sort of illustrated journal. I put my personal stories and experiences into each painting but I hide them in a whimsical format to allow the viewer the opportunity to decipher the meaning for themselves. I ask you to open your heart and mind to these underlying layers, in hopes that you’ll be surprised to find a deeper, unexpected connection to the work."
